Adren Narlo was born and raised in Sigil, the City of Doors. His parents were members of the Society of Sensation, and from a young age he was taught that the only true way to understand the Multiverse was the experience as much of it as you can for yourself. As soon as he was old enough, Adren sought to become a member for himself. A requirement for membership is to submit an experience to the sensation stones in the Civic Festhall. Adren’s experience was one of him cardsharking a particularly angry Baatezu and then running for his life through the streets of the Hive.
After his initiation, Adren found employment in the Brothel of Slating Intellectual Lusts in the Clerk’s Ward. The Brothel did not cater to physical pleasures, but was rather a place where people could go to hire beautiful men and women to engage in debate, games of skill or chance, or other intellectual pursuits. Adren’s specialty was to help those who were curious experience what it was like to get conned. Though they knew what they were paying for, some patrons still were unhappy when they found themselves out a large sum of money (or in one notable case, the deed to their home), so Adren decided that while at work, he would need an alternate identity so that he did not have disgruntled patrons showing up at his doorstep. With the help of his boss, a Succubus named Fall-From-Grace, he developed Erik Lowe, and had all of the proper documentation drafted so that no one, no matter how clever, would be able to figure out the truth of his name.
Things were good in Sigil, or at least as good as they can be. But, in a city with a door to everywhere, sometimes you accidentally stumble into the wrong one and end up in the wrong place. For instance, sometimes you might be walking into a bookstore while counting exactly 11 pieces of gold, and end up somewhere no planeswalker in his right mind would every try to go…
